Every morning, we begin our day with a cacao ritual, a cherished routine that helps us connect, set intentions, and support one another. Today, we’re sharing what our ritual looks like so you can create your own and start your day with purpose and connection.
For the past year, we’ve dedicated 45 minutes each morning to this practice. It’s a time for enjoying cacao, reflecting in prayer, and having meaningful discussions. This simple ritual helps us start the day with clarity about our goals and a shared understanding of how we can support each other. While our routine has specific elements, feel free to adapt it to make it your own. The heart of the ritual is the preparation and enjoyment of cacao.

What You’ll Need
A milk pan (or any small saucepan to heat your drink).
A special mug or cup reserved just for this ritual.
Cacao (We love using Full Power Cacao).
Milk or water (We prefer organic oat milk with just three ingredients: water, oats, and sea salt).
Honey (Local honey is best, our favourite is from Swansea Valley).
A whisk or spoon for stirring.

How to Make Your Cacao
Measure your cacao: Use between 20-50 grams per person. A ceremonial dose is 50 grams, but we find 50 grams works perfectly for two servings. Adjust the quantity to suit your taste.
Combine ingredients: Place the cacao in the pan, add half your milk (around 125ml per person), and half a teaspoon of honey per person.
Heat gently: Warm the mixture over low heat, stirring occasionally as the cacao melts. Focus on the task, it’s a mindful moment.
Finish blending: When the mixture turns a rich, chocolatey colour and starts to bubble, turn off the heat. Add the remaining milk and whisk until smooth.
Serve and enjoy: Pour the cacao into your special mug, ready to become part of your ritual.

The Ritual
Once your cacao is ready, we move to our living room, cups in hand, and begin our ritual.
We sit together, hold our mugs, and take a moment to pray. This is a time to express gratitude for the past or present, grounding ourselves in positivity. Then, we sip our cacao and share a heartfelt discussion. This space allows us to support each other, share intentions for the day or week, and truly connect. It’s a simple yet powerful moment that has deepened our bond and enhanced our communication.

Sharing the Experience
A few times a year, we bring this ritual to our Healing Sanctuary events, combining cacao with sound healing, breathwork, and group connection. These moments are always special and leave attendees feeling refreshed and inspired.
If you’d like to experience a cacao ceremony with us in Cardiff, join our events list and stay updated on our upcoming Healing Sanctuary gatherings.
